The photo accessories are useful but not necessary:

Photo equipment for plant photography

The last time I photographed a wild meadow, I had a fixed lens attached to a Fuji X-100V and could get relatively close to the flowers. However, if I want to see into the small, then I need a small camera for my Smartphone / my Bridge camera one Makrovorsatz (2) or for the System camera one Macro intermediate ring (3). Enthusiastic macro photographers will probably even find a Macro lens (4), but don't feel bad if you don't have it with you on a trip. You can also take beautiful plant photos with very simple means.

  • The best light doesn't come from behind, but from the side or even from the front. Of all places Gegenlicht can be very attractive for your shots (exposure compensation to plus).

Plant against the light.

  • Go all the way get close to your plant motif. No: even closer. Photographing the meadow as a whole is completely uninteresting, but the individual plant shows the whole meadow in itself.
  • Photograph the plant not in the centre of the picture, but from the centre. Feel free to crop your motif once.

  • If it is windy, photograph your plant calmly in a Series of at least 5 - 10 photos so that one of the pictures is really sharp.
  • Change the Focal length (on a smartphone with the wide angle, x1, x2), the aperture, the distance and position to the plant.
  • Your chosen plant is small and lives close to the ground? You now have to look down very far and can use the flip-up display. If you don't have a flip-up display, use an angle finder or take photos by feel without looking through the viewfinder or at the display. In any case, take a series of photos and then check whether the photos meet your expectations. Otherwise, start again from the beginning... and have fun!

Please try to photograph only plants at the beginning. As a beginner, do not be tempted to capture insects. Moving subjects are difficult to photograph. I would like you to be motivated by your success. If it's windy outside, try a bunch of flowers by the window at home.
