Podcaster Brooke Schofield Claims Her Ex Clinton Kane Lied About His Mother Being Dead, His Accent - But He Says That’s ‘Untrue’ (2024)

Clinton Kane has responded to accusations about his mother’s death and his accent made by his ex Brooke Schofield after she posted a 14-part series on TikTok on their relationship.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Kane’s representative confirmed that “Kane and Schofield had a brief, three-month relationship over two years ago” and that her “recent comments regarding Kane are untrue.”

“The public rehashing of these details is only an attempt to bring attention and focus on Brooke's podcast, at the expense of tearing down another former boyfriend -- a tactic she's become known for.”

A rep for Brooke told PEOPLE her response to the statement was "hahahaha."

Schofield, 27, posted her series in response on June 26 in response to a TikTok Kane, 22, posted the day before. "When you’ve been over the relationship for 2 years but she won’t stop yapping," Kane, 22, captioned the post, intended to promote his single "I Don't Wanna Live In a World Without You."

In her video series, the Cancelled co-host laid out the full details of their relationship, from their first meeting to the many “blowout fights” they had while they were together. Schofield explained that she “knew of him because of his music… Tana [Mongeau] and I would blast [his song ‘Chicken Tendies’] on a loop at our old house; we were obsessed with it.”

She later got messages from Kane on Instagram, where he eventually offered to fly her out for one of his shows in Vegas, but she initially declined. Later, he invited Schofield to one of his shows in Los Angeles, where they officially met in person and hung out.

As they got to know each other, Kane opened up to Schofield about the death of his parents and brother and she claimed “the overwhelming common theme” of her arguments with Kane was that she would be “worsening his trauma.”

“I remind him so much of his mother who was so horrible to him and I should be way more sensitive to everything that he is going through,” she said. “And of course I’m like, I get that, you know what I mean? The man lost three family members in one year.”

Later in the series, Schofield claimed that she eventually found out that Kane lied about being Australian and about his mother and brother’s deaths.

“He finally admitted that he did, in fact, fake the death of his mom and his brother,” she claimed. “His dad is dead, not that that’s a good thing. But there’s one out of three that are dead and the rest are still kicking.”

"We were all rooting for it in the beginning," Mongeau said at the time. "I was like, 'I love Clinton's music' — I still do to this day, I think he's so talented. We all were like 'F--- yeah, marry him.' And then it was like 'F--- yeah, run.' It flipped very quickly."

"I've been in Los Angeles for seven years now, maybe longer, and I have never seen anything [like this],” Mongeau continued. "I don't think [Kane] would know a truth if it hit him in the face."

Kane’s rep confirms that “Kane was born in the Philippines, and lived in Australia for a time as a child. Despite moving frequently, he considers Australia to be his home. He has never been disingenuous about this.”

When it comes to his mother, his rep also clarifies that “Kane was lucky enough to have a very special mother-like figure in his teenage years, who sadly passed. Kane regrets the way this devastating news was communicated at the time [and] genuinely felt that he had lost an irreplaceable mother-figure. Kane was and largely is estranged from his immediate family.”

His rep also confirms that “Kane has moved forward” from the drama from his previous relationship and “remains focused and committed to putting out new music.”
